Strong winds from Tropical Depression Debby continued to wreak havoc on New York and the Hudson Valley into Friday evening, Aug. 9. In the Northern Westchester County village of Ossining, police said downed trees had knocked out power to homes and businesses south of Charter Circle near Highland Avenue. Lightning Strike Causes Tree To Fall On Car In Hudson Valley
One person was taken to a hospital after lightning struck a tree, causing it to fall on a car in the Hudson Valley. The incident happened in Putnam County on Sunday, June 23 around 7:20 p.m., when a tree fell on a vehicle on Route 6N in Mahopac between Secor Road and Parker Drive, according to the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Driver Hospitalized After Live Power Lines Fall On Car In Mount Kisco
A driver was rescued from their car and taken to a hospital after striking a utility pole in Northern Westchester, causing live power lines to fall on their vehicle. The crash happened on Monday, June 17 around 2 p.m., when a vehicle struck a utility pole on Knowlton Avenue in Mount Kisco, according to the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department. Arriving first responders and police soon discovered that the driver was trapped in their car and that the snapped pole had dropped live power lines onto it.
