Dog Rescued From Icy Pond In Westchester Volunteer firefighters in the area are being hailed as heroes for rescuing a dog that fell through the ice of a Northern Westchester pond. At around 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, when Pleasantville firefighters were notified that a dog named Miller was stuck in Opperman's Pond and unable to climb out. Sean Carroll was 26 years old. The fire began in the basement of the Carroll home in Thornwood in the early hours of Thursday, Nov. 25, according to authorities. "First responding fire department members were able to evacuate Teresa Carroll and Connor Carroll who were asleep during the time of the fire," said the Rye Brook Police Benevolent Association, which is hosting an online fundraiser to support the family. First responders from multiple agencies responded to a home on Bedford Road at 1:11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18 in Pleasantville, when a fire was discovered by a New Castle Fire Marshal who was passing by in the area.
