Maple Syrup Shortage Prompts Canada To Tap Into Half Of Its Strategic Reserve Maple syrup producers in Canada are in a sticky situation, as a shortage has forced them to use a significant portion of their strategic reserve.  Quebec Maple Syrup Producers has used almost 50 million pounds of syrup from its reserve, according to a report from Bloomberg.  That accounts for nearly half of the reserve, the news outlet reported. Deer Hits Bicyclist During Popular Road Race In Area A woman suffered a broken arm and leg after being hit by a deer while participating in a popular road race in the area. Caroline Lepage, 48, of Quebec, was hit about 10 a.m., Sunday, May 19, while riding her bike northbound during the annual Gran Fondo Race on Route 9W near Boulderberg Road in Tomkins Cove, said Stony Point Police Lt. Daniel Hylas. Eye On The Storm: Up To 2 Inches Of Rain Here, Half-Foot Of Snow In Upstate NY A large storm will that sweep through the area overnight Monday into Tuesday will bring up to 2 inches of rainfall to this area and as much as a half-foot of snow in parts of upstate New York and New England. Precipitation will be rain for most of the region, but some area farthest north could see a mix of snow and rain.
