Election 2024: Projection Made In NY State Senate Race Representing Parts Of Westchester
New York's 40th State Senate District voters have officially chosen their next representative.
Democrat Pete Harckham, age 64, has been projected as winning re-election for his fourth term in the New York State Senate seat representing Northern Westchester and parts of Putnam and Rockland counties, according to the state's Board of Elections.
As of just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, Harckham was leading his opponent, Republican Gina Arena, by 50 to 44 percent.

A new BJ’s Wholesale Club has opened in the Hudson Valley, bringing dozens of temporary and full-time jobs to the region.
The wholesale giant opened up the new 89,000-square-foot club in Orange County on Auto Park Place in Newburgh, making it the company’s 44th location in New York and 220th across the country.
At BJ’s, club members will have their option of a wide assortment of fresh foods, a full-service deli, and household essentials such as paper and cleaning products, diapers, and pet care supplies.

Work Starts On Massive Amazon Warehouse In Hudson Valley
Work has started on the site that will soon become a massive Amazon warehouse in the Hudson Valley, according to reports.
Crews have begun clearing nearly 190 acres of trees in Orange County near the intersection of Route 17K and Route 747 in Montgomery, the home of the warehouse, which will span more than 1,000,000 square feet.
Once completed, the building will be the largest in Orange County, housing furniture, outdoor equipment and other large items.

A prominent Wall Street money manager is trading Broadway shows for country music.
Asset manager AllianceBernstein is leaving to New York and heading to Nashville, according to multiple reports, taking its corporate headquarters, and an estimated 1,050 jobs, starting later this year.
In a filing on Wednesday, AllianceBernstein said that it chose Music City following “a months-long search that evaluated cities on attributes including housing, cost of living, education and weather.”
