The Fleetwood neighborhood of Mount Vernon was recently named to a list of top 20 places to live in Westchester. Apparently, they did not notice the piles of garbage that appear throughout Fleetwood.

While the city code is specific about the types of containers and areas for their storage, the code goes unenforced.

Numerous calls to City Hall go unanswered. Calls to the mayor’s office receive nothing but lip service. The photos speak for themselves.

If that is not enough, look at the pile of cardboard in the alleyway next to Maggie Spillane’s on Gramatan Avenue, or the overflowing dumpster in the CVS parking lot in Fleetwood.

Let’s enforce the city code and truly make Fleetwood a neighborhood to be proud of.
