Latest Update: Police Seek Help In Solving Shooting Of Off-Duty Nypd Officer In Westchester

Authorities are still working to solve the shooting of an off-duty officer that happened near a parkway in Westchester and are asking for help from the public in doing so. 

The incident happened in the area of the Saw Mill River Parkway and Tompkins Avenue in Yonkers near the border with Hastings-on-Hudson.

The incident happened on Tuesday, Nov. 14 just before 11:30 a.m., when an off-duty member of the New York City Police Department was shot in the arm while sitting in a vehicle in Yonkers in the area of the Saw Mill River Parkway and Tompkins Avenue, according to Yonkers Police.

Officers later found the victim at a local hospital in stable condition and determined that the shooting appeared to be a targeted attack. No other injuries or damage to property have been reported in connection with the shooting, Yonkers Police said. 

The department is now asking anyone who may have been in the area of the shooting when it happened to call the Detective Division at 914-377-7725. Callers can remain anonymous, police said.

Anonymous tips can also be sent by texting YPD and a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). 

The off-duty officer's name has not yet been released by police. Although a suspect has not yet been arrested in connection with the incident, police have been talking to a person of interest who was taken into custody in Port Chester, according to Yonkers Police.
