The fire began at 73 Gordon St. in Yonkers on Monday morning, Feb. 24, according to the Yonkers Fire Department, which soon found smoke coming from the basement and transmitted a 10-29 signal. Firefighters knocked down the flames in the basement, preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the house. Crews then worked to ventilate the home, which had heavy smoke throughout.  No injuries were reported.

The body was spotted on Wednesday, Feb. 19 in the Grassy Sprain Brook in Yonkers near the Kimball Avenue overpass alongside the Sprain Brook Parkway, Yonkers Police Sgt. Robert Spink said on Thursday, Feb. 20.  Upon arrival, officers found the deceased adult man in the water.
