Eversource Plans Extensive Tree-Trimming Work In Wilton FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Energy supplier Eversource will invest $75 million in tree trimming in Connecticut over the next year, with significant work expected to occur in Wilton, Stamford and Ridgefield. Workers will trim trees along 4,200 miles of electric lines around the state in 138 communities. Those include 132 miles of trimming to be done in Wilton and 111 miles of trimming to be done in Stamford. Pruning will also be completed at several locations already started in Ridgefield. Juvenile Arrested In Connection With Darien Stolen Vehicle DARIEN, Conn. -- Stamford police arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a vehicle stolen from a Darien home on Feb. 15, according to a story in the Darien Times.Police recovered the vehicle on Feb. 18 after a motor vehicle accident. The Land Rover was reported stolen by a Wilson Ridge resident. The owner left the vehicle unlocked with the keys in the car, police said. The owner was unaware of the theft until the following day. Stratford Fire Department Seeks Help In Supporting One Of Its Own STRATFORD, Conn. — Stratford firefighters will challenge their brethren from Westport in a charity hockey game to raise funds for a member of their department who died unexpectedly in December. Jason Carrafiello, 38, died the day after Christmas. He is survived by his wife and two children, and had been a member of the fire department for 12 years. UB Students Take 2nd In Statewide Envision Kindness Film Competition BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Three University of Bridgeport students won awards at the second annual Envision Kindness Student Film Contest. Nutmeg State Games Honors Brave, Bright Figure Skater From Ridgefield RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — Lauren Toia of Ridgefield delivers a mature perspective on life that few 12-year-olds can share. Then again, the East Ridge Middle School seventh-grader has been through far more than most children her age. Employee Knocks Down Fire In Wall Heating Unit In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. -- An employee extinguished a fire in a wall heating unit at 53 Forest Ave. on Tuesday morning, according to information from the Greenwich Fire Department.The fire department responded quickly to the scene, but the employee quickly snuffed out the blaze.
