Cat Abandoned In Meriden Snow Bank Dies; Authorities Searching For Owner Animal control authorities in Connecticut are asking the public for information about the owners of a cat found abandoned in a carrier and left to die in the snow over the weekend. A couple spotted the cat carrier on Evansville Avenue in Meriden around 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, authorities said. They were horrified to find a cat inside and called animal control for help. Meriden Animal Control officers rushed the cat to a local veterinarian's office, where she was given emergency IVs, antibiotics, and heat treatment. Sadly, it was too late. She died overnight. Rescuers named her Lizzy.…

Train Strikes Tree In Hawthorne, Forcing Change To Rail Service: MTA Two Metro-North trains were temporarily taken offline on Monday, Feb. 17, after striking trees.  The first was reported just after 7:30 a.m. in Wilton, Metro-North said in a social media post. None of the 70 people on board were injured, and rail authorities moved all passengers to buses to complete their trips. Service has since returned to normal. Police ID Middletown Man Found Dead Inside Burning Car In Crowell Police have identified the 67-year-old man who was found dead inside a burning vehicle over the weekend.  Roger Dailey, of Middletown, was located inside the vehicle at Riverport Park in Cromwell on Sunday, Feb. 16, police said.  Multiple people called 911 to report the blaze off River Road. Firefighters didn't find Dailey's body until they had put out the blaze, Cromwell police said.  It's unclear what sparked the blaze. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the death accidental.

57-Year-Old Rushed To ICU After Stamford Hit-Run Crash A 57-year-old Stamford man is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV on West Main Street, with police closing in on the suspected hit-and-run driver who fled the scene. The crash happened around 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, when a westbound 2008 Lexus SUV hit the pedestrian in the 400 block of West Main Street, police said. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Stamford Hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU. Police ID Driver Who Died After Crashing Car During Medical Event On I-95 In Foxborough A 57-year-old Massachusetts man was killed earlier this week when he was involved in a three-car crash on I-95 South in Foxboro, authorities said.  William Martindale, 57, of Attleboro, was killed around 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, from a crash just before Exit 23B, Massachusetts State Police said.
