Car Engulfed In Flames On Taconic Parkway In Northern Westchester
A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely. The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page. No injuries were reported.

SUV Goes Up In Flames On I-287 In Westchester
A lane of a busy interstate in Westchester was temporarily blocked after flames engulfed a vehicle. The blaze happened on Interstate 287 West in Purchase on Tuesday, Sept. 17 around 5:30 a.m., when an SUV caught on fire, according to the Purchase Fire Department. Arriving crews found the vehicle in the right lane at mile marker 7.5 and soon put the fire out. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was later towed from the area.

A vehicle blaze near a parkway in Northern Westchester sent a column of smoke into the air before it was put out by firefighters. The fire happened in Yorktown on Sunday morning, Aug. 25, when a vehicle was consumed by flames on Underhill Avenue near its crossing with the Taconic State Parkway, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department.
