Hastings Kids Approached by Strange Men

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – A 12-year-old boy told police that he and a friend were approached by a man in his 50s driving a blue minivan Tuesday night.

The boy told police that while walking on Farragut Avenue between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. a man yelled to the boys “do you want to see a surprise” before driving off.  Police said they are not taking the matter lightly and are still investigating the matter. 

Also on Tuesday, a 14-year-old girl said she was followed and then approached by an unknown man near Hastings High School on Mt. Hope Boulevard.  Police said the girl hit the man and then fled towards Farragut Avenue.  Police have described the suspect as a white man with brown hair, 5’8” tall and wearing a red hoody with black or blue jeans at the time. Police are still investigating the matter.
