Man Chokes, Imprisons Wife, Child In Hudson Valley, Police Say
A 39-year-old man faces numerous charges after allegedly assaulting and choking his wife and one of their children in addition to unlawfully imprisoning them and the rest of his family in Northern Westchester, police said.
The man's arrest resulted from an incident on Saturday, July 15 just before 3:30 a.m., when Yorktown Police responded to a domestic violence incident in the town, according to the department.

Demar Reinfurt, age 43, was found guilty of multiple felonies by a Schenectady County jury on Thursday, July 6, in connection with the March 2020 attack inside his Schenectady apartment.
The victim managed to call 911 at around 2 a.m. on March 27, 2020 and dispatchers heard her say, “unlock the door” 14 times.

14-Year-Old Carjacked Man In Region Before Fleeing Cops, Crashing, Police Say
A 14-year-old boy is behind bars, accused of carjacking a man at gunpoint before leading police on a pursuit and crashing in the Capital District.
In Rensselaer County, Troy Police were called at around 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, by a man claiming that his car had been stolen at gunpoint by a young male.
During their conversation with the victim, additional officers spotted the vehicle being driven in downtown Troy, near 3rd and Fulton streets.
Police attempted to stop the suspect, but the driver immediately fled, leading to a short vehicle pursuit, police said.

Deli Owner In Hudson Valley Found Guilty Of Sexually Abusing Employee
A Northern Westchester deli owner has been found guilty of the sex abuse of an employee in 2021.
Patrick Patierno, age 54, of Yorktown, was found guilty on Monday, May 9 following a two-week trial in which the jury found the Ossining deli owner sexually abused the employee, said Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah.
On Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, around 9:30 a.m., Patierno entered the home of the victim, who was one of his employees. Once inside, he restrained the victim and forcibly subjected her to sexual contact, the DA's Office said.

14-Year-Old Forcibly Restrained, Touched Victim In Area, Police Say
A 14-year-old boy entered a home and then forcibly restrained and touched a victim in Northern Westchester, state police said.
An investigation revealed the boy forcibly entered the victim’s residence on Thursday, Feb. 13 in Cortlandt, state police said.
He then proceeded to forcibly restrain and touch the victim for the purpose of sexual gratification, according to police.

Teen Charged With Rape, Attempted Strangulation Of 19-Year-Old Girl, Police Say
A teen was arrested for allegedly raping and attempting to strangle a 19-year-old woman.
Devon Austin Payne, of Cragsmoor in Ulster County, was arrested by Town of Montgomery Police following an investigation into the Wednesday, Nov. 6, sexual assault, said Town of Montgomery Police Investigator Stephen Ragni.
Payne was charged with felony rape, felony strangulation, aggravated harassment, stalking, assault, and unlawful imprisonment, police said.
He was arraigned in the Town of Montgomery Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail.
Woman Attacked After Ex-Boyfriend Breaks Into Dutchess Home, Police Say
An out-of-state man was arrested for allegedly breaking into an ex-girlfriend's Town of Poughkeepsie home and attacking her while refusing to allow her to leave.
Jan-Michael Mohan, 29, of Festorville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, was arrested on Monday, April 15, after the victim was able to leave the home and notify police of the attack, said Town of Poughkeepsie Capt. Kevin Faber.
According to Faber, Hohan made entry into the residence without permission and during an argument placed his hands around her neck while applying pressure, making it difficult for her to breathe.
