Grand Jury Report Blasts City Of Newburgh's Fiscal Practices ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. – An Orange County grand jury report is lambasting the city of Newburgh for its money-handling practices, according to District Attorney David Hoovler. The grand jury’s investigation, which was initiated by Hoovler, followed an investigation that ultimately led to the prosecution of then-City Comptroller John Aber, who pleaded guilty to grand larceny, for stealing $9,570 in city funds.  The grand jury found a lack of oversight built into the structure of the city of Newburgh government, specifically in its comptroller’s office, the District Attorney said in a report issue…

Police Continue To Search For James I. O'Neill HS Vandal HIGHLAND FALLS, N.Y. – Town of Highlands Police are still searching for a suspect who vandalized James I. O'Neill High School last week, according to the Times Herald-Record.  The suspect did not gain access to the school, but spray painted dollar signs on a wall and damaged the tires on two fleet trucks and a tractor, the Record said.  Anyone with information is asked to call 845-446-6800. New Windsor Man Fit To Stand Trial For Murder, Judge Says NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. – A New Windsor man was ruled fit to stand trial for the murder of a Highland Falls man on Tuesday, according to the Times Herald-Record.  Andrew Goodenough, 43, was indicted on manslaughter and murder charges for the slaying of Michael Kohus. Orange County Law Enforcement Unions Agree To New Contracts ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. - Two key law enforcement unions agreed to new contracts with Orange County officials through 2022 on Wednesday, according to County Executive Steven Neuhaus. The Orange County Corrections Officers Benevolent Association (COBA) and the Superior Officers Association (SOA) will both begin their new contracts on Jan. 1, 2018. Newburgh Enforces 9 p.m. Curfew This Halloween NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Residents of the City of Newburgh are reminded of a curfew put in place for all minors 16 years of age and under.  The City's curfew will remain in effect from 9 p.m. on Halloween until 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning.  Anyone 16-years-old and younger must be accompanied by a guardian, engaged in employment, or involved in an emergency.

Goshen Farm Owner Indicted On Animal Cruelty Charges GOSHEN, N.Y. – The owner of a Goshen farm was indicted on 10 counts of animal cruelty by a grand jury on Tuesday, according to the Times Herald-Record.  Jeanne Ryan, 51, was arrested after SPCA investigators found nine dead horses and a 10th that was near death from starvation. Police Investigating Armed Robbery At Town Of Newburgh Pharmacy NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Town of Newburgh Police are searching for an armed suspect who robbed a pharmacy on North Plank Road on Sunday, according to the Times Herald-Record.  The incident took place just after 10:30 a.m. at the Medical Arts Pharmacy. The suspect came in with a gun demanding money and medication.
