The fire began amid a round of severe storms around 7:15 p.m., Monday, July 22, at 777 Old Saw Mill River Road, in Hawthorne, where Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is located, said the Hawthorne Fire Department.

Hawthorne responded along with Elmsford Fire Department for a fire next to the structure, Hawthrone Fire said.

Shortly after dispatch, Car 2192 and 2111 were on scene updating the call as a working transformer fire attached to the building and requested Con Ed to the scene.

Crews worked with building staff to shut down the power to the unit and check the structure for fire extension, Hawthorne FD officials said.

The transformer, which burned out, was connected to a power plant that supplies electricity to various units at the business complex.

Officials say one building lost power and no one was injured.

"A special thank you to both the Thornwood Fire Department and Valhalla Fire Department for the stand by coverage while we operated at the scene," the department said.
