Thousands Of NY Inmates Wrongly Punished Over Faulty Drug Testing, Report Finds Solitary confinement, delays in parole eligibility, and suspended family visits were imposed on thousands of New York prison inmates over faulty drug testing. A report by the New York State Inspector General released Thursday, Nov. 30, found that over 2,000 inmates were wrongly punished between 2016 and 2020 due to defects in both the manufacturing and administration of drug tests. The tests, made by Sirchie Finger Print Laboratories, were used by the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) to detect drugs in prison contraband. Full Closures Scheduled For Portion Of Long Island Expressway In Brookhaven Continued highway closures could spell delays for Long Island drivers this week. Both directions of the Long Island Expressway are once again scheduled to close nightly at exit 63 in Brookhaven beginning Monday, Dec. 4. I-495 will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews facilitate a bridge deck renewal project, according to the Department of Transportation. Would You Be Fooled? Movie Money Used By 22-Year-Old Brentwood Man To 'Buy' Car, Police Say It appeared to be the real deal, but a closer look revealed it was all for show. A 22-year-old Long Island man is accused of scamming a victim out of their car by using movie prop money, according to Southampton Town Police. The victim contacted the department in October 2023 to report that his vehicle had been stolen by a man who had contacted him on Facebook Marketplace. State Worker Admits Drugging, Sexually Abusing 15-Year-Old At Dix Hills Juvenile Facility A New York State employee has confessed to drugging and sexually abusing an underage girl at a juvenile detention center on Long Island. 'Enraged' Customer Admits Slashing, Disfiguring Bouncer At Huntington Bar A bouncer at a Long Island bar is permanently disfigured after an angry customer slashed his face after being denied entry. Darieo St. Leger, age 34, of Islip Terrace, pleaded guilty to one count of assault in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
