CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. Down by 12 points after a shaky first quarter, the Croton girls basketball team recovered and used a 28-15 run to overtake Westlake in a 44-41 victory with a Section 1 Class B victory Friday.
Croton, seeded No. 7, and hosting its first sectional playoff game in seven years, advanced to next weeks quarterfinal round game at No. 2 Blind Brook on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Westlake, seeded No. 10, was eliminated from the tournament.
Grace Mulligan led all scorers with 17 points, Bella Addeo added nine and Dani Douglas eight for the Tigers, who extended their slim one-point lead to three points in the tight final quarter.
Faith Lovett scored 15 points for Westlake.
