Croton Realtor Leads New Realty Association

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Croton Realtor Nancy Kennedy of Houlihan Lawrence on Croton will serve as president of the newly formed Hudson Valley Gateway Association of Realtors.

“We did it, so it was exciting,” she said about merging the three trade groups into the Hudson Valley Gateway Association of Realtors in only six months.

The new association will replace three existing associations of realtors, including the Westchester-Putnam Association of Realtors and the Orange County Association of Realtors and the Rockland County Board of Realtors. The new association is a non-profit trade organization, which will cover four counties, Rockland, Putnam, Westchester and Orange and more than 9,500 real estate professionals.

The three groups voted to merge earlier in 2011. The name change is pending approval by the National Association of Realtors.

Kennedy succeeds Michael Graessle, the 2011 president of the Westchester Putnam Association of Realtors, Ron Garafalo, the former president of the Orange County Associations of Realtors, and Bill Thorne, formerly the president of the Rockland County Board of Realtors.

“You learn from other and you get to see the way they do business and they get to see the way you do business,” Kennedy said about being involved in the large trade group.

She also said the new group will give members “power in numbers” for lobbying efforts.
