Cortlandt Man Charged in Forklift Incident

CORTLANDT, N.Y. ? A Cortlandt Manor man is facing charges in connection with an incident where a drinking buddy was raised in the air on a forklift and fell, suffering an arm fracture and collapsed lung.

Nicholas Sarcone, 50, of Furnace Woods Road, Corlandt Manor, was charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment and assault and is due in court Oct. 5.

Westchester County Police found Sarcone's friend lying on the ground Friday, Sept. 21, bleeding profusely from a compound fracture of the left arm, where a bone had protruded from the skin. The 911 call was made from the scene at 2701 Albany Post Road, Montrose, according to county police.

Police said another man at the scene told them he and the victim were drinking beer after work when the victim climbed into the forklift and asked Sarcone to start it up. Sarcone did and lifted the victim about six or eight feet into the air, when he fell, police say.
