Storms Downs Wires, No Power in Half of Village

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – A freak snowstorm knocked out power to nearly half of the Village of Croton's residents. Con Edison estimated that 49 percent of the village’s customers were without power Sunday evening.

Con Edison is estimating power will be restored to all Croton residents by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m.

Roads remained treacherous but passable in much of the village. Downed wires, trees and branches lined Furnace Dock Road, Mount Airy Road and Route 9a, among other streets in the Village of Croton and Town of Cortlandt. Residents were advised to treat downed wires as if they were live and not go near them.

“The town crews continue to clear the roads of snow and downed trees,” wrote Town of Cortlandt Supervisor Linda Puglisi in a press release Sunday.

If you are without power, you should notify Con Edison, at 1-800-75-ConEd.
