Rotary Club of Cortlandt Manor Honors Pediatrician

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y.--The Cortlandt Manor Rotary Club celebrated their one year anniversary on Saturday, with attendees such as Congressional Representative Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.) and New York State Senator Greg Ball. The ceremony also honored Dr. Michael Lasser, a pediatric physician in Cortlandt Manor.

“Sharon and the members of her Cortlandt Manor Rotary Club,” said Cortlandt Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi, “have done a tremendous amount of good for the community in a short amount of time.” Puglisi continued the “They’re working with the Keon Center, and they’re working with the VA Hospital, and I thank them and applaud their efforts.”

The Rotary Club of Cortlandt Manor, which recently hosted the Kelly Miller Circus in the substation of Mohegan Volunteer Fire Station, has made contributions to over 15 charitable organizations including local hospitals, schools and international organizations such as an orphanage in the Philippines.

Dr. Lasser is the first person to be honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Cortlandt Manor. The Paul Harris Award is named after the founder of the International Rotary Club, and is given to someone who has donated $1,000 or more to the Annual Programs Fund, PolioPlus, or approved foundation grant activities. Paul Harris Fellows can also have the amount donated in their name.

The chapter also installed their officers for the upcoming 2011-2012 years.
