Police Release Name of Buchanan Man Found Dead

BUCHANAN, N.Y. – Police released the name of the Buchanan man found dead in Harriman State Park on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 16.  New York State Park Police said Glen Bleakley, 42, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Police initially made contact with Bleakley at about 8:45 p.m. Parks Police said he was loitering in a closed section of Harriman State Park when he admitted to police he had a weapon. Bleakley then fled police. He was found about 2 miles east on Seven Lakes Drive  in Orange County, still inside his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

As of 5 p.m. Thursday evening, the Orange County Medical Examiner's office had not returned phone calls to confirm if police suspicions were correct, that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

Police said family members reported Bleakley missing about 15 minutes before police initially made contact with the man.
