Ossining Man Faces Felony Charge in Croton

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Croton Police say an Ossining man was charged with felony using forged identification, after he was stopped by patrol cars, and it was discovered he was driving without a license through the village. 

Croton Police charged Eric A. Lopez Villa, 31, of Dale Avenue in Ossining, with using a forged identity. The incident took place Sunday morning around 4 a.m. Lopez Villa was held overnight in Peekskill, and arraigned in Croton in the morning. He was remanded without bail to Westchester County Jail, police said.

Hit and Run Croton Police said a caller in a blue Volkswagen Passat was hit by a green Honda near Senasqua Road on Route 9 southbound. Police notified other agencies to be on the lookout for the vehicle, which was later spotted in Ossining.

The driver of the green Honda later told police he was speeding because he was late for work in Ossining. The driver was instructed to come to Croton Police headquarters after work, where he was given two summonses for leaving the scene of an accident and failure to notify the DMV of an address change. The incident was reported on Thursday, March 8.

No Child Safety Seat Croton Police said a caller reported a young toddler in the back seat of a Honda without child safety restraints. The caller reported the car was parked in front of the Red Box in the ShopRite Shopping Center in Croton. The driver was issued summonses for not having proper safety restraints for the child. The incident was reported just after 3 p.m. on Friday, March 9.

Recycling Larceny Croton Police said a Grand Street resident reported a man walked up her driveway and took a bag of recyclables she was intending to return for the deposit. Police say the resident was more concerned that the man walked up her driveway, than that he took the recyclables. The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 8.

Skateboarding Youths Croton Police said a caller reported youths skateboarding down Arrowcrest Drive, and said she almost struck one with her vehicle. Patrols advised the youth they should not block cars. The incident was reported Monday, March 12 at 10 p.m.
