Croton Home Burgled, $3,000 in Valuables Missing

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – A burglar took over $3,000 worth of electronics and other valuables from a Croton home Friday afternoon, Feb. 17, Croton police said. The homeowner notified Croton police that when he returned home at about 2:30 p.m. that afternoon, he believed the house had been burglarized.

The Olcott Avenue resident reported he returned home to discover his laptop computer, iPod, cash, coins and jewelry missing. Police do not believe there was forced entry by the burglar. Police called the burglar’s method “selective,” as the house wasn’t overly ransacked. The matter is under investigation, police said.

In other police news:

DWI Walter Ramos Gregorio, 22, of Ossining was charged with misdemeanor DWI and another misdemeanor for driving with a blood alcohol content of more than .08, after Croton police said they observed Gregorio make an unsafe lane change on Route 9 southbound, after 3 a.m. Saturday morning. He was arrested by the Croton police, and released on $250 cash bail.

Sick Raccoon A cell phone caller reported to Croton police there was a sick raccoon outside of Dunkin’ Donuts in Croton, at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Patrols responded and were unable to locate the raccoon, police did not receive any other calls on the raccoon.

Suspicious Package The Metropolitan Transit Authority requested assistance for an unidentified package in a southbound train that was arriving at Croton-Harmon train station, Thursday morning, just before 7 a.m. Croton police evacuated the affected train car. When an MTA canine unit arrived, it was determined that the package contained a salad.
