CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. - Longtime Cortlandt Manor resident Ella A. Diaz died Dec. 30. She was 82.
Born in Weineir, Germany on June 25, 1929, she was the daughter of Josef and Rosina Bredel. She attended high school in Germany. She married Gilbert J. Diaz, who served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, on March 15, 1946.
In 1967, they settled in Peekskill, where Diaz was a stay-at-home mother raising their five children while her husband worked for the Town of Cortlandt.
She is survived by her daughters Rosemary (William) Frampton, Evelyn (Greg) Pfaff, JoAnn (Mark) Carbone and Patricia (William) Schneider, her son Robert (Denise) Diaz, her brother Klaus Bredel, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Gilbert on Sept. 16, 2008.
Visiting will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home in Peekskill. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Columbanus Church in Cortlandt Manor, followed by a private cremation at Ferncliff Crematory.
