Presidents Day, Feb. 18

Croton-Harmon and Hendrick Hudson School Districts are closed.

Federal, state and local government offices are closed, including libraries and post offices.

Tuesday, Feb. 19

Knitting and Crochet: 7 to 9 p.m. No formal instruction is given at this gathering of needle-work lovers, but the friendly company of other enthusiasts is unavoidable. This group meets at the Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton. Call 914-271-6612 for more information.

Pre-Purim Women's Night Out: 7:30 p.m. Chabad Jewish Women's Circle invites women to explore the role the heroic Esther played in saving the Jews of her time from annihilation. Create bracelets and earrings using crystal, glass, and lampwork beads. Refreshments will be served. Croton Board of Trustees: 8 p.m. The Croton Board of Trustees meets to take legislative action. A portion of this meeting is dedicated to public comment. The meeting takes place at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton.

Wednesday, Feb. 20

Compost Tea Workshop: 8:30 a.m. Join others at Hilltop Hanover Farm for an informative and intensive workshop geared toward professional farmers, landscapers and lawn-care specialists, as well as those new to organic growing. There is a $150 fee to attend, Hilltop Hanover is 1271 Hanover St., Yorktown.

Community Drum Circle: 6 p.m. Feel the rhythm at Ajna Wellness Center's community Drum Circle. Visit the Ajna Wellness Center's website for more information, the shop is at 18 Old Post Road S., Croton.

Hendrick Hudson Board of Education Budget Input Session: 6 p.m. The Hendrick Hudson School District will seek input in the upcoming budget from members of the public, at this meeting in the district office. The office is at 61 Trolley Road, Montrose.

Book and a Blanket: 6:30 p.m. This knitting and crochet group meets at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library, 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose. Materials and simple patterns for blankets are supplied by the library and all projects are donated to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center for newborn babies.

Cortlandt Zoning Board of Appeals: 7 p.m. The Zoning Board meets to discuss matters of zoning law. The meeting takes place at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt.

Thursday, Feb. 21

Energize Presentation to Seniors: 10:45 a.m. Seniors can learn how to take advantage of New York State incentives and income-based subsidies to upgrade the comfort and efficiency of their homes. Flo Brodley presents at Verplanck's Little Red School House, 220 6th St., Verplanck. 

Matinee Movie: 1:30 p.m. The Hendrick Hudson Free Library shows the epic Batman thriller "The Dark Knight Rises," (PG-13) starring Christian Bale as the masked crusader.

Teen Book Group: 6:30 p.m. This group gathers at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library, 185 Kings Ferry Road, to discuss a book recently read by the group. For more information, call (914) 739-5654.
