A man who attempted to jump from the new Tappan Zee Bridge was rescued by troopers and a special police unit who rappelled over the side of the bridge and pulled him up with ropes. The incident began on the bridge in Southern Westchester in the area of Tarrytown around 9:20 a.m., Friday, May 27. Benoy Varghese, 32, of Congers, was arrested on Monday, July 1, and charged with assault and criminal mischief after reportedly hitting a woman in Stony Point, said Stony Point Police Lt. Suspect Nabbed After Struggle With Female Homeowner In Rockland Burglary, Police Say A woman was hurt early on Sunday morning as she attempted to stop a man who broke into her Rockland home and stole several items, police said. Members of the Ramapo Police Department were dispatched to an Orange Turnpike residence in Sloatsburg shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, following a burglary that was interrupted by the homeowner. The suspect fled the scene before investigators arrived at the home.
