Andrew Desiderio, a senior from Mineola in Nassau County, was 21 years old, majoring in mechanical engineering, with a minor in economics, and was due to graduate next month. Desiderio died Monday, April 12, as the result of a hiking accident, the university said in a statement, adding, "No additional details are available at this time." New Rochelle native Jacob Goodman, a junior studying mechanical engineering, was challenged by a professor to build a working ventilator. According to reports, Goodman took a trip to Wal-Mart on Friday, March 27 to get the supplies he required and went to work in his dorm room. He explains how he went about it in this video.
