A Westchester County barber convicted of slashing a patron with a straight razor during a violent attack has been sentenced to state prison — but for less time than prosecutors sought.
Yonkers resident Jeury Fernandez Navarro, 38, was sentenced to 2½ years in state prison on Thursday, Sept. 24, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced.
As previously reported by Daily Voice, Fernandez Navarro was convicted by a jury on Tuesday, Aug. 18, of second-degree assault, a violent felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

A naked Connecticut man who police said showed signs of drug impairment at an I-684 rest area in Northern Westchester was caught with methamphetamine and other drugs in his vehicle, authorities announced.
Virgil J. Naveda, 56, of Darien, Connecticut, was arrested during an incident at the Bedford Service Area on southbound I-684 at around 3:24 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, New York State Police said on Thursday, Sept. 24.
