'Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over' Campaign Launches Across NY State ‘Tis the season for cracking down on drunk driving. Starting on Wednesday, Dec. 13, and lasting through Monday, Jan. 1, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that the New York State Police would join in on the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. During the campaign, additional patrols will be out on the road, and DWI checkpoints will be set up to ensure any person driving under the influence is taken off the road. Hochul said troopers would also be on the lookout for distracted driving, people who are not properly buckled, and those who violate the “Move Over Law” requiring driving…

The new service area in Ulster County, located in the town of Plattekill, (is now open to the public. The location is the sixth new service area to open on the New York State Thruway as part of the $450 million project to redevelop and modernize all 27 thruway service areas, said the New York State Thruway Authority. $9M Pavement Project Begins On I-87 Stretch The New York State Thruway Authority has announced the start of a $9.7 million pavement improvement project on the New York State Thruway (I-87) spanning Orange and Ulster counties.  The work will cover nearly eight miles between interchange 17 in Orange County in the city of Newburgh to Ulster County in the town of Plattekill.  “This project will help ensure a smoother ride for the tens of thousands of motorists who travel this section of Thruway each day,” Thruway Authority Interim Executive Director Frank G.
