A man from the region was arrested four times in two weeks for allegedly stalking and harassing an employee of a local bank. Sullivan County resident Jhakem Degroat, age 31, of Monticello was arrested for the fourth time in Liberty on Friday, Oct. 13, said Chief Steven D’Agata of the Liberty Police. All of the arrests stemmed from incidents surrounding his stalking and harassing behavior of an employee at a local bank in the village of Liberty, D'Agata said. A 16-year-old has been charged with criminal use of a weapon in connection with the shooting of a woman from the region. The teen was arrested in Sullivan County in the village of Liberty on Wednesday, Sept. 6. According to Lt. Mark Johnstone of the Monticello Police, the juvenile was wanted for the Saturday, July 15, shooting of a 27-year-old Monticello woman that occurred at the Sleepy Hollow apartment complex at Terry Lane in the village of Monticello. Murder Charge: 16-Month-Old Girl In Region Dies At Hands Of Couple, Police Say
A man and a woman from the region have been charged in the death of a 16-month-old girl found unresponsive in the lobby of a motel. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 2 at the Knights Inn Motel in the village of Liberty. According to Liberty Police, officers responded to a 911 call for a child in cardiac arrest at the motel located on Route 52. Seen Her? Alert Issued For 14-Year-Old NY Girl Who's Gone Missing
Authorities in the region are asking the public for help locating a missing 14-year-old girl who hasn't been seen in two days. Luisa Campos went missing from her Sullivan County home in the village of Liberty on Monday, Sept. 26, said the Liberty Police. She may be in the company of a man in the local area, police say.
