34-Year-Old Shot To Death Near Albany Park After Repeated Fights, Police Say

The killing happened at around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, near Albany’s Bleecker Stadium, near Ontario and First streets.

Albany Police said officers were called about a shooting and found evidence consistent with gunfire when they arrived.

As detectives were investigating the incident, they learned that a 34-year-old gunshot victim had been dropped off at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

The victim, identified by police as Ashad Cooper, was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to investigators, Cooper had been involved in several physical fights throughout the day. During the last altercation, he was shot in the neck.

No suspects had been arrested as of Thursday evening, Feb. 8.
