Westchester Town Bans ATVs On Public Property After Man Attacked At Park
A Northern Westchester town has banned the use of all-terrain vehicles on public property almost a year after a man was run down at a baseball field. In an announcement on Friday, July 19, the Town of Yorktown revealed it adopted new regulations for ATVs and off-highway motorcycles following a vehicular assault in late August that left a man with severe injuries. A Northern Westchester man has been accused of threatening to kill US Postal Service employees and burn down post officers. Ossining resident Anthony Alfano, age 46, was arrested in Yorktown Heights on Friday, July 19, after making violent threats against USPS employees and threatening to burn down US post offices in Ossining, according to federal authorities. 3 Dogs Found Abandoned Near Hudson Valley Road: Information Needed
Authorities are asking for help from the public in finding whoever abandoned three dogs near a Hudson Valley road. The three dogs were found in Putnam County during the early morning hours of Saturday, July 13 in the area of Sunken Mine Road in Putnam Valley, the Putnam County SPCA announced on Monday, July 15. The dogs appear to all be around 1-and-a-half years old and are female collie mixes. Two people died, and dozens of others sickened in a Listeria outbreak tied to deli meats in several states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Twenty-eight people across 12 states had been sickened between late May and mid-July, the CDC says. The deaths occurred in New Jersey and Illinois, health officials said.
