As the Memorial Day holiday approaches, New York State Police announce they will increase patrol to combat drunk and impaired driving. The STOP-DWI enforcement effort will take place statewide beginning on Friday, May 22, and runs through Tuesday, May 26, the department said. Those who drink big during the big game could find themselves in big trouble if they drink and drive, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo warned. The governor announced that New York State Police is teaming with local law enforcement agencies during Super Bowl weekend to crack down on impaired and reckless drivers. Impaired Driving Repeat Offender Measure Introduced By Lowey, Latimer
With the Memorial Day weekend here, elected officials are warning drivers not to drink and drive while introducing new proposed legislation to curtail impaired driving. Westchester County Executive George Latimer joined Congresswoman Nita Lowey on Friday afternoon, May 24 in front of the Westchester County Stop DWI Simulator to urge responsible and safe driving over the holiday week and throughout the summer. New York State Police are increasing patrols in an effort to reduce the number of drunk, impaired and reckless drivers on the roads throughout this Memorial Day weekend. Parent Charged After Police Crash Underage Drinking Party In Northern Westchester
Police crashed an underage drinking party in Northern Westchester over the weekend, busting more than two dozen teenagers while a parent was home. Westchester County police officers were dispatched to a Victoria Drive home in Mount Kisco on Saturday night, Jan. 26 when there were neighbor complaints of a “large, underage drinking party in progress.” Upon arrival at the home, officers found several open cases of beer, empty cans of beer and an open bottle of vodka inside the residence.
