Ethel Kennedy, Matriarch Of Nation's Most Famous Political Family, Dies At 96 Ethel Kennedy, the matriarch of America's most famous political family, died Thursday, Oct. 10. She was 96.  Ethel Kennedy was wife to Robert "Bobby" Kennedy Sr., sister-in-law to President John F. Kennedy, and mother to 11 children, including former presidential nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr.  She suffered a stroke at her home last week, her grandson, former Rep. Bowman Easily Wins In Race Against Former Mayor In Westchester County Incumbent Democratic US Rep. Students Call For Action In Latest Rally Against Gun Violence In Putnam Putnam County students said “enough” to gun violence in America, rallying at the old Putnam County Courthouse for several hours over the weekend calling on stricter gun laws. Nineteen years and one day after the fatal shooting at Columbine High School, more than a dozen students and community members rallied at the courthouse to “prove that students will not lose interest, we will not give up, and we will fight (until) change happens,” according to student organizers.
