Response Rally Scheduled Following Shooting Of Two In Poughkeepsie DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Following a shooting of two people in the City of Poughkeepsie over the weekend, members of Family Services SNUG program will host a rally against violence Thursday on Main Street. The program, started earlier this year in response to gun violence in the city, is one of 13 across the state. Run by Danny Hairston, the program responds to every act of gun violence in the city in an effort to reduce shootings and save lives, he said. Louis Arpi, 56, died as the result of trauma injuries he sustained in a head-on collision between the car he was driving and another vehicle on Route 22 near the intersection of Thunder Ridge Road in Patterson. Police Investigating String Of Overnight Burglaries In Hastings WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Hastings-on-Hudson police are investigating a string of burglaries involving smashed windows that took place overnight on Wednesday. The burglaries came to light when police received a call around 6:56 a.m., Wednesday, from the owner of the Hastings Center Restaurant, at 540 Warburton Ave., reporting that his business had been entered during the overnight hours, said Lt. Mystery Surrounds Poughkeepsie HS Fight Between Parents, Students DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Many questions remain unanswered after a fight reportedly broke out among students and later parents at Poughkeepsie High School. Route 202 Reopens After Crash With Injuries This story has been updated. A stretch of Route 202 (Bear Mountain Bridge Road) in Cortlandt has reopened after a serious three-car crash closed the roadway in both directions. The crash, which happened on a narrow stretch of road near the Overlook, occurred around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, said Trooper A.J. Hicks, spokesman for the department. Dispatchers report three injuries, none appear to be life-threatening "at this point," Hicks said.

NY Man Threatens Las Vegas-Type Massacre, Authorities Say A New York man who threatened a Las Vegas-type massacre against a Denver company, while trying to extort money from the tech start-up, was arrested Tuesday, said the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. Wappinger Robbery Suspect At Large For Weeks Have you seen him?State Police are asking the public for help in locating Shatee Lyons, 39, in connection with a robbery that occurred in September. Lyons, who is described as being 6-foot-2, 225 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, is wanted for stealing a cellphone and cash from a victim in Wappinger, police said. Man Seriously Injured In Fall While Trimming Trees In Tomkins Cove ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Spring Valley man sustained serious internal injuries during a fall while cutting trees at a house in Tomkins Cove, according to the Stony Point Police. The accident took place around 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, at 664 N. Liberty Drive, Tomkins Cove, when the man fell from a ladder, said Lt. Daniel Hylas.
