Betsy Palmer, 88, Of Danbury, 'Friday the 13th' Villainess
DANBURY, Conn. – Danbury resident Betsy Palmer, a longtime film and TV actress whose career spanned 50-plus years, died May 29, the New York Times reported. She was 88.
Born Patricia Betsy Hrunek in East Chicago, Ind., on Nov. 1, 1926, Palmer's career featured stints on game shows like “I've Got A Secret,” Broadway productions of “Cactus Flower” and “Same Time Next Year” and parts in “Mister Roberts” and “The Tin Star.”
Her best-known role was as Mrs. Voorhees in 1980's “Friday the 13th,” taking the part only because she needed the money to buy a new car, noted the Times.

John M. McGuire, 75, Of Chappaqua
CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – John M. McGuire, of Chappaqua, died June 7. He was 75.
McGuire was born Nov. 2, 1939, to Beatrice and Felix McGuire in Mount Kisco, graduating from Peekskill High School and serving in the U.S. Army.
He spent 25 years working for the Somers Central School District and was the superintendent of the Fair Ridge Cemetery in Chappaqua.
McGuire was predeceased by his parents, brothers Robert and Don McGuire and son-in-law Tom Weldon.

Maria Mancini, 80, Of White Plains
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Maria Mancini, of White Plains, died June 8. She was 80.
Mancini was born in Roccasecca, Italy, on Feb. 24, 1935.
She is survived by her husband Alberto Mancini, three children, Linda Chuquillanqui and her husband Victor, Elena Loscher and her husband William, Gilbert and his wife Jean, grandchildren Lorianne, Ricardo, Alexandra, Dexter, Charles, Nico and Julia, and great-grandchildren Sean and Solis.
Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Ave., White Plains.

Vega Evangelista, 77, Formerly Of Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Vega Evangelista, a former resident of Bridgeport for more than 25 years, died June 7 in Kissimmee, Fla. She was 77.
Evangelista was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, to Benigno Vega and the Cecilia Garay, working at Bridgeport Manor Convalescent Home for 22 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, and is survived by sons Domingo and Antonio, three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Thomas F. O'Hare Jr., of White Plains, died June 1. He was 80.
O'Hare was born to Thomas and Frieda O'Hare, attending Saint Peter's College in Jersey City and Columbia Law School and serving in the Korean War.
He is predeceased by his parents, and is survived by a son and son-in-law, Michael and Daryl; grandchildren Kira and Aidan; and siblings Joan O'Hare, Mary Jane O'Hare, Doris Primich, Maggie O'Hare and Dennis O'Hare.

OSSINING, N.Y. – William H. Dougherty, of Ossining, died Sunday, June 7. He was 87.
Dougherty was born Jan. 27, 1928, in St. Augustine, Fla., to John and Zilla (nee Kitchen) Dougherty.
He moved to Irvington, graduated from Fort Schuyler Maritime Academy in 1948, sailed as a merchant marine and enlisted in the Navy. In 1955, he married Ruth Martinson.
Dougherty was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife; four children, Linda of Ossining, Bob of South Beach, Fla., Bill Jr. of Lyons, Colo., and David of Fishkill; and four grandchildren.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Edward (Ted) F. Cowles Jr., a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died Friday, June 5, at the Schaffer Extended Care Center.
Cowles was born Oct. 4, 1920, in Port Chester to Edward and Mable (nee Comstock) Cowles.
He graduated from Port Chester High School and Columbia University. He was a McGraw Hill proofreader until his retirement.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Russell and Douglas.

Paul was born in Haiti on Jan. 20, 1932, to Jules and Meranise Paul.
