Stray Kayak Spurs Concern Amid New Bridge Construction

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Westchester County Police are investigating after construction crews at the New Tappan Zee Bridge spotted a stray kayak in the Hudson River Thursday morning.

Kieran O'Leary of the Westchester County Police said they are determining whether someone was out in the river or a kayak simply became unmoored.

"We don't have reports from anybody saying that someone went kayaking," O'Leary said. "We are searching but no one has reported a missing person. It's not unusual for stuff to end up in the river."
