MT. KISCO, N.Y. Thunder and heavy ran extinguished any chance of the Mt. Kisco Annual Firemens Parade stepping off as scheduled.
The parade, scheduled for Friday, was canceled due to inclement weather. According to Fire Department officials, the parade will not be rescheduled but will take place as usual next year.
Members of the Mt. Kisco Fire Department arent the only ones disappointed by the change in plans.
"Over 25 companies from throughout New York and Connecticut come so it's a big deal," said Union Hook and Ladder Foreman Carl Sickels.
Departments from neighboring including like Bedford, Katonah and Chappaqua have been preparing for the parade all week.
"We cleaned up a lot of our trucks last night, said Mike Zezze of the Chappaqua Fire Department.
Mt. Kisco firefighters preparations for the parade will also go unseen.
"The parade means a lot to us, said Mt. Kisco Fire Chief Mike Boles. The guys have worked hard all week to set up the bullpen and clean up the trucks.
The annual parade is a way for the community to connect with and better understand the department.
"Its good because they see us out in public and what were all about, Boles said. We're about more than just fighting fires."
