Palen Road In East Fishkill To Temporarily Close EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- As a part of the ongoing bridge work on Palen Road in East Fishkill, the road will be closed to drivers on Thursday Dec. 3 and Friday Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) will be placing concrete between the recently constructed bridge decks at this time. The road work depends on weather and work conditions over the next several days. Once Palen Road has reopened, Bridge E-9 will be open to one-lane of traffic through the use of a controlled traffic signal.

Parade Of Lights Returns To Wassaic For The Holidays WASSAIC, N.Y. - Wassaic will be filled with lights and holiday cheer, as the annual Parade of Lights returns to town on Sunday, Dec. 13.The Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting Santa at the Wassic Fire Department at 3 p.m.  The parade will start at 4:30 p.m., and line up will begin at 4 p.m. at Luther's Barn. Cuomo Tightens DWI Offender Punishment In New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo approved a bill that would work to ensure that all who are repeat DWI offenders have ignition interlock devices installed in their cars. The ignition interlock, a breathalyzer type device that requires drivers to blow into the device before the car will turn on. According to an article on NY State of Politics, the bill was approved following an audit from State Comptroler Tom DiNapoli found that of the more than 53,000 devices installed were compliant only 25 percent of the drivers were compliant with the law.  Read more about this issue here.
