Published Report: Friedlander Planned Suicide, Penned Notes

Sam Friedlander wrote two notes shortly before last week's killings suggesting an impending suicide, but gave no indication that he planned to take the lives of his wife and two children, according to The Journal News.  The bodies were discovered in their Cross River home last week.

Investigators tell The Journal News Friedlander left one note in his law office in Bedford and mailed a second to a family member. In both letters, Friedlander reportedly indicated what officials called, "his last wishes."  In addition, State Police revealed Friedlander had been taking several medications to treat high blood pressure, depression, anxiety and insomnia, many of them for the past ten years.

Authorities also said Friedlander used a wooden rolling pin to bludgeon his wife Amy to death last week, not a furniture leg as originally reported.
