To recognize them for the services they provide to their communities, volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers in Westchester will receive property tax breaks thanks to a new law. Volunteer firefighters in the area are being hailed as heroes for rescuing a dog that fell through the ice of a Northern Westchester pond. At around 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, when Pleasantville firefighters were notified that a dog named Miller was stuck in Opperman's Pond and unable to climb out. Treasurer Pleads Guilty To Stealing $37K From Hudson Valley Fire Department, DA Says
A Hudson Valley fire department treasurer has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $37,000 from the department's coffers Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh announced Tuesday, Dec. 14, the plea of guilty by Christopher Nau, a Spring Valley Volunteer Firefighter to grand larceny.
