State Police are awaiting the results of a DNA test to determine if the remains found in a sunken car in the Hudson River belong to a missing area man. The vehicle, a 2001 blue Hyundai Accent, was found on Wednesday, July 8, by state police in Dutchess County who were conducting a routine sonar training operations in the river near the Victor C. Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie, state police reported. Police have released the identity of a body found floating in the Hudson River on Tuesday. The Dutchess County Medical Examiner's Office said late Thursday afternoon that man pulled from the river is Paul Moschitta, 49, of the City of Poughkeepsie, who had been missing since July 24 when he jumped into the river to help a struggling swimmer. The body of a man was found floating in the Hudson River in the area of the Mid-Hudson Bridge. Dutchess County Sheriff's officials received reports of a possible body floating near the bridge around noon Tuesday, July 31, said Lt. Shawn Castano. Two department boats were dispatched and deputies located the body in the river, he said. The 49-year-old man has been identified as Paul Machettia of the City of Poughkeepsie.
