Pack Of Sharks Spotted Off Long Island Shore, Temporarily Closing Beach
Swimming was temporarily suspended again at a Long Island beach when a pack of sharks was reportedly found feasting on baitfish in the waters. A pack of nearly two dozen sharks was reportedly spotted at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15 at Davis Park, a Fire Island beach off the coast of Long Island, causing concerns for lifeguards in the area. Great White Shark Swims Along Jersey Shore Coast
A Great White Shark was spotted swimming along the Jersey Shore coast. Video: Shark Caught Off Long Island Sound
A man out for a little nighttime fishing on the Long Island Sound hooked a brown shark instead. Fisherman John Skinner, of Greenport, was fishing Saturday, Aug. 24, in Southold for bluefish when he hooked a large brown shark up against some rocks. A YouTube video shows the shark and the entire 20 minute battle with the fish. Because the brown shark is prohibited in New York, he immediately released it.
