Westchester Medical Center Hosts Running Festival

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The Westchester County Center will be the start of a half marathon and 10K race when the Westchester Medical Center hosts its Seventh Annual Running Festival Sunday.

The event, which will feature a half marathon, which is 13.1 miles, a quarter marathon, or 6.2 miles, for runners and a half marathon for walkers, which is open to all ages.

Young runners ages 12 and under may compete in a special non-competitive ‘Kids Fun Run,’ which starts at the County Center. The center will also be home base for a host of exhibitors on race day.

Registration for the Fun Run is free and available only on race day. The half marathon for walkers begins at 8 a.m.; the half marathon for runners begins at 8:30 a.m.; the quarter marathon begins at 9 a.m.; and the ‘Kids Fun Run’ at 10:45 a.m. An awards presentation follows at approximately 11 a.m.

All events will be held rain or shine. The registration fee is $55 for the half marathons, open to those 14 years of age or older, and $45 for the quarter marathon, which is for those 12 years of age or older.

Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Ave. in White Plains and is accessible by Metro North Railroad. The Bronx River Parkway will be closed to car traffic from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the day of the race.
