PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. The Pace University mens and womens basketball teams will host the Play4Kay fundraiser on Feb. 11 when they take on Northeast-10 Conference opponent College of Saint Rose on the Setters Senior Day, their final games of the regular season.
The Kay Yow Foundation started the Play4Kay campaign to raise money for breast cancer research, and the Setters will once again participate in the effort. Pace University Athletics will sell Play4Kay T-shirts for $5 at the game and will donate all proceeds to the Kay Yow Fund.
Twin Jewelers of Pleasantville is sponsoring the event for the third consecutive year and in addition to selling jewelry at the game, will raffle off a pink piece of jewelry. ShopRite of Thornwood will be giving out free food at the game and representatives from the supermarket will sponsor the ShopRite Fan Zone."
A CYO Youth Team will play a scrimmage game at halftime, and both the Pace Dance Team and Drum Line will perform. Frank and Joes Deli will sponsor the Shock and Lock promotion during the mens game, and Wells Fargo will sponsor a $50 Fast Cash Student Giveaway.
Kay Yow, the former womens basketball head coach at North Carolina State University who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and passed away on Jan. 24, 2009, created the foundation to help researchers who are searching for a cure for cancer.
