ALBANY, N.Y. -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently defended the Moreland Commission anti-corruption panel he formed in 2013.

According to nystateofpolitics.com, Cuomo stated the commission did its job and that the ethics laws the legislature passed are the strongest in the state's history. . 

The panel shuttered less than a year after formation after an agreement regarding ethics measures was reached in the state budget.

Reports that the governor's office was tightly overseeing activities dogged the commission. U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara's office took control of the commission records after disbandment to review Cuomo's involvement.
