DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Paul Golio of Dobbs Ferry, the 52-year-old office manager at Dobbs Ferry Animal Hospital, has died after he was struck by a car on March 3.

Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner, who called the amateur ventriloquist and actor "well-loved local fixture" and "one of the nicest people you could know," announced the sad news in an email overnight.

Funeral services were planned for March 16.

Golio had been hit head-on by a car while walking across Ashford Avenue in Dobbs Ferry.

Feiner called Golio, "a very well liked, an important member of our community who made people smile."

"To those who knew him, our community won't be the same,'' Feiner said.

"Paul was a unique individual who made people happier,'' Feiner said.

"We need to make our communities more pedestrian friendly so that tragedies like this won't happen again,''' Feiner added.

Feiner said the next meeting of the Greenburgh Town Board will begin with a moment of silence in honor and in memory of Paul Golio "who will continue to inspire."

Golio was seriously injured, including injuries to his head and spinal cord, and numerous broken bones. He was hospitalized at Westchester Medical Center.

As reported earlier, Golio was crossing Ashford Avenue about 9:30 a.m. when a car struck him near the intersection of King Street, Dobbs Ferry police said.

Police said it is unclear how the incident occurred, and no charges or traffic tickets were issued.
