It happened around 9 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Bohemia, southbound  on Sycamore Avenue, said the Suffolk County Police.

According to police, the crash occurred when a 51-year-old man was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on Sycamore Ave., making a left turn into a parking lot, when his vehicle struck a northbound 2017 Hyundai SUV.

The driver of the Chevrolet was extradited by members of the Bohemia Fire Department who worked to stabilize the vehicle and used cutters to remove the roof in order to reach the injured man, the Bohemia Fire Department said.

Once removed, the driver was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue.

The driver of the Hyundai was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
