Lt. Eric Fischer, White Plains Police Department spokesman, said an initial media report saying knives were used in the fight were "really blown up way, way out of proportion."

"There were no knives involved (in the fight)," Fischer said of the 10 p.m. disturbance inside the popular eatery at 7 Maple Ave. "They were in a steakhouse,."

The family members from Virginia and Maryland, whose names were not released, were charged with: third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration after one family member tried to prevent White Plains police from arresting the others. All the charges are misdemeanors.

Three male family members and one female reportedly became angry when they were told they would not be served any more alcohol.

Morton's employees said the family attacked members of the restaurant staff and damaged property. Police confirmed some staffers suffered minor injuries.

Investigators said a number of staffers suffered minor injuries in the melee that followed.

No other details were released Monday.

The Westchester District Attorney's Office had no immediate details on the bail or court status of the four charged suspects.
