Watch Your Step, Hudson Valley: Pedestrian, Motorist Safety Blitz Starts

In an effort to increase safety for all parties on local roadways, the New York State Department of Transportation has launched a “pedestrian safety enforcement blitz.”

The DOT announced that beginning for two weeks, starting on Friday, local law enforcement agencies will be targeting their busiest pedestrian walkways to educate the public about safety rules and laws.

According to the DOT, police agencies throughout the state will be patrolling pedestrian corridors, issuing warning notices, tickets and informative tip cards to both motorists and pedestrians found violating the law.

The pedestrian safety enforcement blitz began on Friday, June 16 and is expected to last through the end of the month.
